From a service executive’s point of view, the time is now to build a sustainable service organization, both from an operational and an environmental perspective. In Aberdeen’s State of the Market 2009 Report, 51% of service respondents indicated that they currently have a green initiative in place, with 27% responding that they have had an initiative in place for more than three years. With a significant portion of a service organization’s environmental footprint tied directly to the operation of its service fleet, mobile resource management software, like that marketed by Intergis, is becoming increasingly more popular. A study reviewing 9 city transit buses over a period of two years. Five of the buses operated on a B20 (20% biodiesel blend) and the other four on pertroleum diesel. The buses were compared in terms of fuel economy, vehicle maintenance cost, road calls and emissions.
