Graham Wood Doors began as a small, residential wood door company out of Marshfield, Wisconsin in 1968. The company grew to a ten person operation by the following year. With slow, steady growth the company began to manufacture commercial grade wood doors alongside their residential line of doors and by 1976, the company employed over 50 employees. For the next 13 years, the company experienced growth with both there residential and commercial lines of wood doors. In 1989, Graham was purchased by ESSEX Industries. At this time, the company employed 150 individuals. Continuously looking for ways to improve product quality, automated prefinishing and top coat lines were added in 1994. Under ESSEX, the company began to focus more solely on the commercial industry and worked hard to gain market share. Graham was purchased by ASSA ABLOY and relocated from Marshfield to Mason City, Iowa. Concentration on architectural flush wood doors was now the company's competitive advantage.
