Wuxi (new energy) National Science and Technology Commercial Innovation Base, established in 2007, is one of 38 state-level science and technology innovation bases. After more than two years of programming and construction of the base, it has been formed a photovoltaic high-tech industry clusters with the leader of Suntech, the level of advanced technology, the complete industrial chain, the independent innovation ability, and strong international competitiveness., In 2008, the base’s sale was 32.7 billion Yuan, with an increase of 166 percent, accounting for 40 percent of the national total. The exports of photovoltaic enterprise had reached 2.5 billion U.S. dollars total, with an increase of 71.32 percent.There existed more than 40 photovoltaic production enterprises and a number of ancillary businesses in the base. The investment of R & D accounts for about 5 percent of gross sales, and there are more than 40 patents now. The average rate of photovoltaic conversion with Silicon and polycrystalline silicon solar are respectively 20 percent and 18 percent which are both in an international level. There are many well-known brands in the base, such as " Suntech ", " Jetion " ,"Guofei", "Erquan" and "Hareon". More than 90 percent of photovoltaic enterprises have passed the ISO9001 and ISO14000 quality system certification. The key enterprises export their products through CE, IEC, TUV and UL and other international certification, and have got permits to the international market. At present, some photovoltaic industry carriers and public technology and service platform such as Suntech Photovoltaic Industry Park, photovoltaic product quality inspection center, state-level testing laboratories of photovoltaic products are under construction.
