Konarka Technologies Inc. has signed a comprehensive R&D collaboration and strategic investment agreement with Konica Minolta Holdings Inc. The companies reached agreement to start full-scale collaboration in April in the joint development and distribution of organic thin-film photovoltaics. Under the agreement, Konica Minolta has invested $20 million in Konarka.

Kyocera Corporation recently completed construction of a new solar cell manufacturing plant, increasing the company's production capacity to meet the growing demand for solar energy products in the global market and contributing to the company's expanded annual production target of 1 gigawatt (GW) by March 2013. The new facility becomes the largest Kyocera Group manufacturing plant in Japan - located in Yasu City, Shiga Prefecture.

New wind potential estimates for the lower 48 states based on windNavigator, AWS Truewind's high-resolution wind resource dataset have been released. The estimates were produced in collaboration with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and they mark the first comprehensive state-level assessment of the onshore wind resource potential since 1993.

Poinso Awarded 3.2 MW of Solar Contracts in Greece |

Proinso has been awarded the supply of various solar photovoltaic farms in Greece which will all together amount to more than 3.2 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity. Proinso, part of Grupo OPDE, said that the first distribution agreements have been signed with the company Adiva Hellas for several photovoltaic solar farms located on the island of Crete and include the supply of 900 kilowatts (kW) of SMA modules and inverters.
